How did the competition come about?

Andy, the competition's organiser says: “I realised that all the pets I knew were worth celebrating: my sister’s fluffy white cat thinks he’s a dog and cannot be dissuaded from venturing on two mile walks with her; my father’s Tonkinese cat spends every evening retrieving items of underwear or slippers and carrying them with huge pride downstairs to the lounge and my friend’s dog quacks like a duck. Are these animals unique or is the world full of charismatic pets? That’s what I wanted to find out.”
